Nancy Tilles is an award winning portrait artist, watercolorist and graphic designer. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Miami, Florida in 1977. Over the years she continued with her education through masters workshops and classes at the Armory Art Center where she studied with renowned artists, Phillip Pearlstein & Nelson Shanks.

Her colorful realism has been appreciated all over South Florida and beyond. Nancy's paintings are regularly on display at Alligator Art in Wellington and have been included in exhibits at Palm Beach International Airport, Artigras, Wellington Art Festival, Las Olas Festival of the Arts, Boca Raton Festival and Weston Art Festival among others. Presently, Nancy has much of her work on display and for sale at Beyond Decor at Palm Beach. Nancy's work has been published numerous times and her painting "Sheer Determination" was chosen as the cover of "Palms West Almanac" Magazine 2004. This same piece will be on loan in the City of Wellington as part of their Art in Public Places Program. Her permanent mural appears at the Jewish Community Center in West Palm Beach and her historical bench design, "The Clematis Flower", at Clematis Street was recently completed as part of the Downtown Redevelopment Project of West Palm Beach.

"I consider myself to be primarily a portrait artist because I am attracted to the individual organic form, whether it be human, animal or botanical. Capturing the essence of the subject and breathing life into the image is what I strive for inmy paintings. People tell me that they love thecolor in my paintings. Color is very important to me because it creates the illusion of light.

The image is enhanced by interplay of complimentary colors on the form. I have chosen to paint in oil because of its organic quality which so closely emulates reality."

Portraits and paintings are hand-painted by Nancy Tilles and require anywhere from 30 to hundreds of hours to complete. Nancy uses only the finest materials, color-fast oils painted on museum quality canvas.

Nancy works from photographs or from life. For a family portrait, she can work from individual photographs of the family members without requiring a group picture. The artist prefers to take her own photographs but can work from pictures that are provided. Photos can be blended with each other until the perfect picture is created to make the painting.

Although Nancy is known for her portrait, equestrian and floral paintings in Wellington, her underwater paintings have received much acclaim and are being promoted nationally.

Her beautiful paintings of flowers and nature will brighten any environment. The artist offers custom florals/garden paintings by commission that can be designed to fit your home or office. The colors, size and theme of the painting can be created to match the decor and style of each room. Museum quality prints and giclees are also available for sale.

Nancy is an active member of the Wellington Art Society, WITVA, and Delray Art Association. Currently, she is teaching oil painting in her studio and specializing in commissioned oil portraiture.
