I graduated from Parson's School of Design in NYC in 1982 with a B.F.A. in illustration. Since then I have been a freelance illustrator specializing in naturalistic illustration using the combined media of airbrush, hand rendering and digital. This is a technique I developed that solves the problem of airbrush being too slick, and digital being too stiff and cumbersome, and having a pasted together look. The combination I've found produces a blended beautiful image.
My clients are advertising agencies and design studios, as well as corporations direct. I work frequently for packaging although my illustration is used by a broad range of clients for advertising, P.O.P., publishing, postage stamps, as well as a wide variety of licensed products.
I'm a perfectionist, hard working, easy going, and very professional. I pay strict attention to detail, and deadlines are always met. If requested, I offer thumbnails, sketches, and very tight, realistic color comps before going to final painting. I have been a working professional for 24 years. All illustration, be it comps or final art is provided to you digitally.
Anzalone Imaging is a new division at the Anzalone Illustration studio. We take the highest quality studio photography and integrate it with traditional illustration thus providing you with digitized artwork with a highly photographic look.
My work has been accepted and on display with the Society of Illustrators, N.Y.C. and Los Angeles, and traveled in the Society of Illustrators group show nationwide. I have been published in Creativity several times, and I have won numerous awards and medals in the New Jersey Art Directors Club and the New Jersey Ad Club.
My studio is a shared with my husband, photographer Russ Avarella. The studio is located about 30 miles from NYC. I also have a secluded home and studio where I live with my husband and two children on 17 acres in the farm country of western N.J.
