As one of six siblings, Lisa Ann White had the opportunity to learn first hand the value of a large family and the importance of hard work. Growing up on a farm in rural Columbia, Mississippi enabled her to develop an appreciation of “the beauty of God’s creation” that would later serve as inspiration for her painting.
After graduating from college, Lisa began a career as a systems analyst for a major oil company. She returned to the classroom, after giving birth to three children, and obtained a bachelor’s degree at the University of Southern Mississippi in 1991. At that time, she began a new career as at teacher of mathematics. She has since earned her master’s degree from William Carey College.
Lisa began painting as a hobby in 1992. She educated herself through research and study along with daily application of her skill. Commissioned portraits in acrylics became her trademark. The transition from portraits to sill life was short due to her love of nature. Lisa enjoys painting fruit and magnolias. She paints from photos only, using acrylics on canvas. Her first print, “Magnolia Medley”, was an instant success and her beautiful floral designs continue to grow in popularity.
Lisa still loves in Columbia with her husband, Robert, and their children. She continues her teaching career at West Marion High School in Columbia.
